Jim Miller is retired from UPS after most recently serving as Vice President, Legal and Public Affairs, for the UPS airline. He was responsible for managing legal, regulatory and policy matters for the airline. Jim’s early career with UPS included extensive experience in the UPS ground operations, industrial engineering and air operations.

Jim was part of the team that started the air operations for UPS and he progressed through numerous operational and air operations planning assignments of increasing responsibility as UPS became an airline. He developed and led the UPS aircraft acquisition team for an eight year period and was responsible for the negotiations of more than 140 new and used aircraft. Those acquisitions included foreign leverage lease transactions and like-kind exchanges.

He represented UPS in commercial disputes and also in regulatory enforcement matters with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration. Jim managed numerous applications to the FAA for alternative means of compliance including emergency egress procedures, flight deck security and supplemental type certificate applications.

Jim is a member of various bar associations, was previously the Executive Vice President of the International Air and Transportation Bar Association and is admitted to practice law in Kentucky. Jim attended the U.S. Naval Academy and served as President of his class while at Annapolis. Jim received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Kentucky and his law degree from the University Of Louisville School of Law. Jim served on the board of directors for Dare to Care and was the Chair Person from 2014 -2015.
