Scott C. Burgess

As a multi-engine IFR rated pilot for more than twenty (20) years and having owned aircraft, Scott Burgess has first-hand experience dealing with issues that must be addressed on behalf of his clients.
Scott founded Aviation Legal Group, P.A. in 1996, and his practice is devoted exclusively on the needs of business aviation community. Recognized internationally as pre-eminent in cross-border and US-domestic business jet and rotorcraft transactions, Scott routinely handles complex international and US domestic purchase, sale, lease and finance transactions, non-citizen trust ownership and operation, joint-ownership, timesharing and cost-sharing arrangements, charter management, and fractional interests.
Scott is the author of many articles on business aviation regulatory and tax topics. He also regularly presents at national and regional business aviation forums. Mr. Burgess is a member of the Florida Bar and United States District Court, Southern District of Florida in 1991; the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in 1995; United States District Court, Middle District of Florida in 1997; U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, 2009; Washington, D.C. Bar, 2006; the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association in 1997; and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, 2002. Mr. Burgess is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator since 2007.
Scott and his wife, Cheramie, have two daughters, and spend most of their spare time boating in South Florida, the Florida Keys, and the Bahamas. They enjoy mountain hiking/biking and snow skiing. In addition, he has participated in several mission trips, served on the board of multiple charitable and non-profit organizations, including service as the founding President of Young Professionals for Covenant House, a member of the Strategic Leadership Committee for his church, a board member of local private schools, a board member of the National Aircraft Resale Association (now known as the International Aircraft Dealers Association) and the National Aircraft Finance Association (NAFA).
