  • J.C. Buehler

  • J. C. Buehler has been active lawyer and pilot for over 40 years, with a practice emphasizing insurance subrogation, aviation and commercial law. He was a pilot, check airman and Corporate Counsel with ATA Airlines from 1983-2008. Mr. Buehler represented the airline before various state and federal courts, the FAA and U.S. DOT. He was a member of the ICAO Disruptive Passenger Task Force,and the Litigation Committee of the Airlines for America. He is a principal in Solutions Air, a Part 135 air carrier, and an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner.

    He is an adjunct professor of Aviation Law at the Indiana University McKinney School of Law (Fall 2017), and previously taught Commercial Law as an adjunct at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business (1982-87); and Business Law at the University of Indianapolis (1980-82). He has served on the faculty of numerous continuing legal education seminars; and authored several articles and presentations on aviation law. His other appointments and public service include: Hearing Judge, Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission (2000-04); judge pro tem, Marion County Municipal and Superior Courts (1981-94); Reserve Deputy, Hamilton County Sheriff\'s Office (2006- ); Federal Flight Deck Officer (2002-07); and Legal Officer and Stan/Eval Check Pilot, Civil Air Patrol/USAFA (1999-2008). Mr. Buehler is admitted in Indiana and Illinois, and is a member of the Indianapolis and Indiana State Bar Associations, the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, and the International Air & Transportation Safety Bar Association. He serves on various non-profit boards, including the Heroes Club, Inc., Science on Tap, Inc., and the Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame, Inc.
